What is Taekwondo?
Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that dates back over 2000 years. It is know for its dramatic flying and spinning kicks. The name comes from the Korean words tae (foot or kick), kwon (fist or punch), and do (art or the way).
Literally Taekwondo means "the way of the hand and foot". Taekwondo is a very effective means of self-defense, but it is more than a physical art, it is also a philosophical art and state of mind.

Students learn the fundamentals of Taekwondo through choreographed sequences of combative moves, the breaking of boards and two person controlled sparring. Students are taught how to defend themselves, not only physically, but mentally.
